There was significant tension in Ojurowo, Folumo, in the Isale Eko area of Lagos Island, Lagos State, on Friday when the public apprehended an unidentified woman for abducting and selling children.

City Round reported that the woman had kidnapped the children from the Ijora area of the state and transported them to Isale Eko to sell them.

In a trending video clip on X viewed by our correspondent on Friday, a crowd gathered around a building suspected to be the site of the woman’s illegal activities.

According to a voice in the video, the woman admitted she intended to sell the children for N250,000.

Five children were found with the woman, who claimed to sell each for N50,000, totaling N250,000. She reportedly brought the children from Ijora. People were urged to come to Isale Eko in Ojurowo if they knew anyone missing a child from Ijora.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that a 20-year-old man, Maxwell Nweke, was arrested for abducting five boys in the Adeniji Adele area of Lagos Island. Nweke allegedly lured the children to an unknown location after buying N500 worth of puff puff from them.

The victims raised the alarm after realizing they had been deceived, leading to Nweke’s arrest by police in Adeniji Adele on Thursday afternoon.

According to Hundeyin, officers arrested 20-year-old Maxwell Nweke, who had five boys aged between eight and twelve with him.

Initial investigations revealed that Nweke bought N200 worth of puff puff from one of the boys, paid for it, then took N500 worth and asked the boys to follow him to Lagos Island to get the money.

On the way, the boys suspected something was wrong and raised an alarm, leading to Nweke’s arrest. The boys have been reunited with their parents, and the investigation continues.
