Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has remarked that Nigeria is an extremely divided nation, asserting that the next Nigerian president must work towards uniting the country.
Jonathan made this assertion on Friday, December 23, when the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, met with him at his Yenagoa residence in Bayelsa State.
Obi and Jonathan had then on Friday evening, held a closed-door meeting amid the LP candidate’s presidential campaign ahead of the 2023 elections.
According to Jonathan, who posted what he said at the meeting and pictures from the meeting on his verified Twitter handle, anyone who wins in the 2023 race has the first task of uniting Nigeria.
The former president additionally commended the presidential candidate for taking the bold move to contest the elections next year outside the two major, well-known parties in the country. During this visit, Obi was accompanied by his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, and other party stalwarts.
