From Tagbo to Obama: The grim reaper turns Davido’s enclave to abode
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The death of six associates in four years is an unsettling and terrifying occurrence for anyone, how much more a renowned character and music sensation like David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. It’s an ominous development that will rattle even the most spiritually fortified of men. It becomes even more troubling if such unfortunate incidents happen in a superstitious enclave like ours, a place where conjectures are thrown around with reckless abandon and conspiracy theories are spun with glee.

Many have pontificated that there is more to the deaths of these Davido allies, insinuating that there might be a diabolical and occultic angle that involved using them as a ritual for a purpose only known to these pontificators, while the fatalists see the deaths as a natural occurrence that are inevitable.

Between 2017 and 2021, the Assurance crooner has lost a number of his solid pals whom the singer confesses to mean a lot to him.

It began in 2017 with Tagbo Umeike. Tagbo’s death stirred the hornet’s nest and engendered a lot of controversies as the fingers of suspicion were pointed at Davido as many accused him of having a hand in Tagbo’s death. He died at a bar in the Lekki area of the state after allegedly taking 10 shots of Tequila. He died on his birthday. However, a police autopsy later revealed that Tagbo died of suffocation.

Tagbo’s death was swiftly followed by that of Olugbenga Abiodun popularly known as DJ Olu and Chime Amaechi. Both died few days after Tagbo. They were found dead in a BMW parked in a garage in Banana Island. DJ Olu was the son of the current governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.

In 2020, Almost three years after the death of Tagbo and DJ Olu, another ally of Davido, Ahmed, passed away. The Jowo crooner took to his Instagram page to mourn the death of Ahmed popularly called King Jhafi. The cause of his death was, however, not stated.

Also in 2020, Davido lost his bodyguard, a friend of 11 years and an important member of DMW crew, Tijani. In a heartfelt tribute, Davido said Tijani was a supportive and dependable ally. He described him as such a big person with a baby heart.

After almost a year hiatus, the grim reaper visited another associate of Davido, Habeeb Uthman, better known as Obama DMW. Obama, a music producer, and record label owner was Davido’s Close friend and a prominent member of the Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) crew.

Obama died on June 29, a few hours after the deceased reported to Ever Care Hospital in Lekki personally to complain of breathing difficulties and was eventually admitted.

The 30 billion gang member died of a suspected heart attack.

Whether there’s more to these deaths or they are just coincidence and natural occurrences is up for debate, but one thing we can all agree on is that all is not well in Davido’s camp.
