An all-new Game of Thrones sequel based on fan-favorite character Jon Snow has been announced at HBO. The live-action spinoff sequel is still in its early stages of development but it has been confirmed that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington would be reprising his role as Jon Snow in the sequel.
The exciting news of this latest announced series comes after the long-awaited prequel House of the Dragon based on the House Targaryen civil war that occurred about 300 years before events in the blockbuster fantasy drama started. The House of the Dragon will be debuting on HBO Max on 21st August 2022. Since the series concluded production in 2019 after only eight seasons, Kit Harington has made several appearances on screen, with the most spotlight being on Marvel’s 2021 Eternals.
The actor has been nominated two times for an Emmy award for his portrayal of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. It can be recalled that in Game of Thrones’ eighth and last season, Jon Snow found out about his real name, Aegon Targaryen, and deduced that he was a likely heir to the Iron Throne. Nevertheless, the series ended as he was banished from Westeros and he traveled North, to the Wall together with the Wildlings to forgo his old life behind.
