Governor Abiodun Mourns Abacha’s Former Deputy Oladipo Diyo.

Several condolences are being offered to Lt.-Gen Oladipo Diya’s family as the former Chief of General Staff under General Abacha, as Gen Ladipo Diya passed away on Sunday.

The Governor of Ogun State, Gov Dapo Abiodun has mourned the passing of the General who was once the “number two citizen” in the country.

Gov Abiodun, in a Statement released by his Spokesperson Kunle Somorin in Abeokuta on Sunday, said that the late Diya was a gentleman to the core, and whose contribution to the development of Nigeria will never be forgotten also Ogun state will never forget his contribution to this great country and the state while he served as the Military Governor of Ogun state from January 1984 to August 1985.

He further said that the late Gov Diya was courageous and daring, very patriotic, and was inclined to help Nigeria develop.

“He was courageous and daring, quick-witted and patriotic.

“Diya played frontline roles in the evolution and development of the state and Nigeria as a whole,” the governor said.
