INAHURAT, an election observer group has demanded the immediate resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu over the irregularities that were seen during the conduct of last Saturday’s general election.
According to the election observer group, Yakubu’s resignation would enable another competent person to conduct the March 11, 2023, Governorship and State Assembly elections, thereby restoring the confidence of Nigerians in the electoral body.
INAHURAT had additionally called for the leadership of the commission to look into all those involved in compromising the server and Bimodal Verification Accreditation System, BVAS, during the February 25 elections that saw the Presiding Officers across the country to be unable to upload the results at the various polling units to the server hours after voting had ended.
The group had made the call on Thursday, March 2 in Abuja via a preliminary report signed by its National Coordinator, Gerald O. Katchy.
