The House of Representatives has urged President Bola Tinubu to announce a state of emergency on drug abuse in the country.
This motion was brought on by Francis Agbo, a member of the House, who drew the attention of the House to the efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, to scour the country of hard drugs.
The House additionally, worried about the tools and weapons available to the NDLEA and appealed for a raise in the budgetary allocation to the drug agency, to be funded for by the Presidency.
The Ninth House of Representatives will be holding its final session on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
