The Israeli army has formally announced the killing of Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
The last Nasrallah had been the leader of the Iran-backed militant group for 32 years and he was reported to have been the target of Friday’s strikes on Beirut.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had made a post on X, saying that he “will no longer be able to terrorize the world.”
However, at press time, Hezbollah had yet to issue a response to the military’s announcement.
The killing of Nasrallah has triggered and escalated the conflict on the Israeli side.
Since the early stages conflict with Hezbollah (starting on 8 October – a day after Hamas’ attacked southern Israel) it was deduced thst Israel would not kill the group’s most senior leaders. But, this has turned out to be poor judgement as in recent months, Israel has killed several senior members of Hezbollah.
