New Bayern coach Vincent Kompany insists that midfielder Tom Bischof will take up a significant role for the Bavarians following his first league start of the 2024/2025 season.
Bischof was named in his preferred midfield position with Joshua Kimmich and was provided with his chance in the 24th minute against VfL Osnabrück, which he duly took by scoring the game’s opening goal.
Kompany stated that consistent selection was all part of a well-thought-out plan in developing his progress.

“Tom is a vital player for the future of Bayern,” stated Kompany. “He will play every game and he will be a crucial player for us.”.
The manager admitted that following the summer departures was one of the reasons for his willingness to give Bischof time to grow at Bayern and expressed there are no concerns regarding midfield positions despite the youngster now being trusted more; “We felt consciously that we have to create space in the team around the development with Leon Goretzka having left to become a top class midfielder and it may still result in Joo Palhinha leaving for to forge himself into another such quality option.” he stated.
