The Lagos State Government has just announced that all its bus fares will revert to their original 100 percent rates as of April 1, 2023.
Recall that back in February, the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had announced a 50% slash on all the state Public Transport Systems in a bid to cushion the effect of the fuel and currency crisis.
This bus fare reduction had been sustained by the state government during the March 18 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
But in a recent statement from the state government released by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA had announced that as of Saturday, 1st April, bus fares on all regulated buses BRT, Standard, and FLM would go back to their 100 percent rate.
