Kylian Mbappe’s goal propelled Paris St Germain into the final of the Coupe de France, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over stubborn opponents Rennes at the Parc des Princes.

The 25-year-old striker showcased his scoring prowess by finding the back of the net five minutes before halftime, taking his tally for the season to an impressive 32 goals. Despite missing a penalty just moments before his goal, Mbappe’s contribution proved decisive in securing PSG’s spot in the final.

Mbappe’s goal sets up a highly anticipated showdown with Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in May, offering PSG the chance to lift the Coupe de France for the first time since 2021.

Named in a strong PSG starting lineup alongside captain Marquinhos, Mbappe demonstrated his attacking threat early in the game, narrowly missing out on scoring with a powerful effort that struck the crossbar.

Although Rennes posed a threat on the counterattack, PSG continued to press forward, with Mbappe earning a penalty eight minutes before halftime. Despite his initial miss, Mbappe quickly made amends by finding the back of the net just two minutes later, securing the crucial breakthrough for his side.

Rennes attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, with striker Amine Gouiri going close to equalizing, but PSG’s resilient defense, led by goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, held firm to maintain their lead.

With the victory, PSG extends their impressive unbeaten run in all competitions to 26 games, signaling their determination to secure silverware both domestically and in Europe. As they prepare for the Coupe de France final against Lyon, PSG will look to Mbappe’s goal-scoring prowess to lead them to glory once again.
