Prophet Adolawam Chris was the New Nigeria People’s Party’s candidate for governor in the 2023 elections. On Tuesday, the party’s leaders in Echiaba Ward in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State suspended him for doing things that hurt the party.

The Secretary of Echiaba Ward of the NNPP, Mr. Ani Okechukwu, told reporters after their emergency ward meeting in Abakaliki that Prophet Chris “campaigned openly against our presidential candidate, Senator Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, in favor of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, even on the day of the presidential election.”

The suspension letter also said that Prophet Dr. Adolawam Chris met in secret with people from the ruling All Progressives Congress and later agreed to give up his position as the NNPP’s candidate for governor of Ebonyi to the ruling party. This left the NNPP’s supporters in the state feeling hopeless and frustrated.

They are saddened to hear that the so-called Prophet Dr. Adolawam Chris beat the Ebonyi State chairman of the NNPP, Hon. Chukwu Solomon, black and blue, and the Ebonyi State coordinator of the Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Council, James Nwite, among other important people in our party, just because we chose him to be our candidate for governor.
