Orji Uzor Kalu, who is currently Chief whip of the Senate, would be getting the senatorial ticket of his party, the All Progressive Congress, unopposed.
Mr. Orji Kalu would not be contesting with anyone for the position of the Senate in the primaries on Friday, as his opponent, Mr. Fabian Okonkwo, withdrew from the race.
The senator had however been praised for his tremendous efforts for his senatorial District, Abia North, in the past three years. They claimed that he had achieved a lot of projects that saw to the development of the district.
The former governor of Abia state had earlier stepped down for Ahmad Lawan, the Senate president, as APC presidential candidate. He had begged delegates to vote for Ahmad Lawan for fairness, equity, and justice in the country.
