Victor Osimhen was the main man to the delight of fans as Nigeria overwhelmed Benin 4-0 in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles did not waste time in asserting their dominance as they got on the scoreboard after only 3 minutes when Osimhen made the most of a defensive mistake to fire in the solo drive.
In the 37th minute, the Galatasaray forward increased the lead by a factor of two, making it 2-0 with a close range header from the assist of Samuel Chukwueze before going to the break.Osimhen was not done with the trick, he sealed his hat trick with a thunderous header in the 51st minute and the Benin back line could do nothing to stop him.
Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka put the icing on the cake with a beautiful long-range goal in the added time.The outcome elevates the Super Eagles to the second position in their qualification group, hence maintaining their dream of playing at the World Cup as they continue the race for a playoff spot.
It was a great show of force that the Super Eagles’ attacking power was highlighted and Osimhen’s killing instinct.
