Collation of results is currently underway at the INEC office, the commission has also announced the results for 10 LGAs. However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the results from Egor and Akoko Edo local governments, which were won by the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing allegations of misconduct and falsification.
The APC is showing a significant lead over the PDP, prompting the party’s outcry. PDP agent Osagbovo Iyoha alleged irregularities in the collation process. He claimed that the results were fabricated to favor the APC and pointed out that the collation center was moved from the council headquarters to another location. Additionally, he alleged that PDP agents were locked out of the collation center, leaving only APC representatives inside.
Regarding Egor Local Government, Iyoha asserted that the PDP actually won the votes but that the APC was declared the winner. He further claimed that the results from Akoko Edo were manipulated, as the votes cast exceeded those recorded by the BVAS system.
In response, APC acting chairman Jarret Tenabe stated that the votes accurately reflected the will of the people. He insisted that all election issues were addressed during the results collation and that the votes declared corresponded with what was captured by the BVAS.
Despite the accusations of misconduct, the election results appear to be favoring the APC. The situation remains tense, and it remains to be seen whether the PDP can turn the tide.
