Peter Nweke, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Ezza North LGA who was said to have to bring attacked by thugs in Saturday’s election has been confirmed dead by the Ebonyi State Police Command.

This information was disclosed to News Respondents on Sunday by SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the State Police Spokesperson.

According to Sp Onome, the deceased was attacked by thugs in Saturday’s election and was beaten to death, before the DPO and his team could intervene the damage has already been done, as he was confirmed dead on arrival by doctors.

She said, “The DPO and his team tried to rescue him, but he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty when they got to the hospital.”

“PDP chieftain and a resident of the area, Innocent Nomeh, said the deceased was killed after being threatened by some thugs in the area.

The police are currently investigating the issue, and we believe that justice will be served. It is a pity that the life of such a young man would be cut short just because of elections, the police should put their hands on deck on this issue, and make sure these thugs are caught and punished by the law severely.
