Frustrated youths in Ondo State have once again taken to the streets to express their anger over the scarcity of naira notes and Premium Motor Spirits, PMS, aka petrol in the country.
This was after police officials had earlier warned residents against embarking on public protests over naira notes and petrol scarcity in the state. But residents on Tuesday, February 7 had defied orders and blocked the Ore-Benin expressway to register their displeasure over the present crisis.
According to reports on Wednesday too, the residents don’t seem to be letting up on their protest as the roads in the state capital, Akure has remained blocked– a development which has caused gridlock in the state capital and according to SaharaReporters, the action has resulted to travellers taking the Ilesha-Akure-Owo-Benin-Abuja route to avoid getting stranded.
One of the protest organizers, Oluyemi Fasipe, had disclosed that security operatives were informed before the protest began.
