The Russian Federation and Ukraine have successfully conducted a large-scale prisoner exchange, marking the sixth such transfer this year. The exchange was expertly facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, which has demonstrated its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region through its mediation efforts.
According to an official statement released by the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 190 prisoners were exchanged, with 95 Ukrainian nationals being repatriated and 95 Russian military personnel being released. The ministry expressed its gratitude to the UAE for its pivotal role in facilitating the exchange, acknowledging the country’s “humanitarian mediation” efforts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed the swap in a separate statement, extending his appreciation to the UAE for its instrumental role in securing the release of Ukrainian prisoners.
