International singer and songwriter Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has announced the passing of her mother.
The award-winning artist shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, describing her late mother as “my mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything.”
Reflecting on the loss, Asa revealed that her mother died after battling a sudden illness. “A sudden brain tumour came without warning and took you too soon,” she wrote, as she honoured her mother’s kindness, generosity, and gentle nature.

She also fondly recalled her mother’s personality, highlighting her “quiet swag,” reserved nature, and dry sense of humour. Despite not being musically inclined, Asa said her mother remained her strongest supporter, always singing along to her songs with enthusiasm.
“Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum,” she added.
The singer, known for music that often explores themes of love, identity, and personal experiences, did not disclose further details about the timing of her mother’s death or funeral arrangements.
Her announcement has since drawn sympathy and condolences from fans and colleagues across the music industry.
