Real Madrid complained in a formal letter to the authorities of La Liga, after the decision of FC Barcelona to play its December match against Villarreal in Miami was made. They called it a “corruption of the competition”.
As per MARCA, Madrid appealed to the Sports Council of Spain (CSD), the most significant sports authority in the country, where they argue that moving a home match abroad breaks the competition’s fairness.
The CSD has already sent a request to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for official documents regarding the authorization of the ill-fated decision. RFEF, on the other hand, would like to read Madrid’s complaint before giving their answer.
The scandal has caused a seismic reaction in La Liga and led to the division’s wide range of protests. Being one of the clubs that joined the initiative, Barca players did not kick off their games for the first 15 seconds during the weekend. The Spanish Players’ Association, represented by AFE, is strongly against the Miami match and it was also supported by the teams through this gesture.
Another voice from Madrid came from their defender Dani Carvajal who is currently off the field due to an injury. He said the relocation was “unjust” and went on to say that it “changes competition”.
As a result of conflicts between money, politics, and football, the best league in Spain is now amid another power battle.
