Tiger Woods has successfully undergone ankle surgery to treat arthritis caused by a previous injury he had sustained.
The 47-year-old had because of the injury, pulled out of the 2023 Masters midway through the third round earlier in April.
He had then had an operation on Wednesday, April 19 in New York.
The surgeon had performed a subtalar fusion procedure to tackle the problem caused by a previous fracture of his talus (a bone in the ankle joint).
Meanwhile, a statement on Woods’ social media channels read:
“Earlier today, Tiger Woods underwent a subtalar fusion procedure to address post-traumatic arthritis he sustained from his previous talus fracture. It was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York City who has determined the surgery to be a successful one.”
“Tiger is presently recovering and looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation.”
