The English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, seem to be on the point of signing one of the most promising midfielders in Europe. Last night, they took the first step toward a successful transfer by having a face-to-face meeting with Xavi Simons’ agent.|
The 22-year-old RB Leipzig star had been waiting for Chelsea to move, but after their failure to sign Eberechi Eze, Spurs have made a decisive move.
Mohammed Kudus was signed earlier this summer and Xavi Simons is being seen as one of the main attractions of Tottenham’s creative midfield at a fraction of the price, £52 million.
Negotiations between the player’s agent and Spurs halted progress on Monday and Tuesday but got going again on Wednesday with the first indications from Simons that the move would be acceptable.
By the end of the following day, the club had the feeling that they had ticked all the boxes — with their ambitious project, the attractiveness of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and ultra-modern training facilities. According to the sources, the Dutch international was very much taken by it.
Moreover, Thomas Frank has been quite authentic in letting Simons know how integral he is going to be in his tactical scheme, which is the main reason the Dutchman is leaning towards this option.
Although there is little hope that Chelsea might pounce at the last moment, Tottenham are definitely upbeat. Spurs are also on the lookout for yet another creative midfielder and a center back before the transfer window closes.
