U.S. President Donald Trump is at it again, but this time, he’s claiming to have saved Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, from assassination. In a furious Truth Social post on Friday, Trump wrote, “I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH,” accusing the Iranian leader of being ungrateful. According to Trump, he personally stopped both Israel and the U.S. military from taking Khamenei out.

Trump Warns: More Bombs Coming

Trump didn’t stop there. He declared that if Iran moves forward with its nuclear program, “the United States would bomb Iran again ‘without question.’” The president said he was working on sanction relief for Iran before Khamenei’s latest comments. But after the Iranian leader gloated about his country’s “victory” over Israel and claimed Washington had been slapped, Trump pulled the plug. “No more sanction talks,” he said, essentially ending any peaceful negotiation attempts. Trump Claims He Saved Khamenei, but now promises more bombs if Iran dares to enrich weapons-grade uranium.

Trump Claims He Saved Iran’s Khamenei, Threatens More Bombing

A Faith-Led Insult War

In a press conference, Trump called Iran’s claim of winning the 12-day war “blatantly and foolishly false.” He added, “As a man of great faith, [Khamenei] is not supposed to lie.” Trump’s entire rant boiled down to this: he had the power to end Khamenei’s life and chose not to. And instead of getting a thank you, he got “anger, hatred, and disgust.” In his words, “They got beat to hell… it was a great time to end it.” Again, Trump Claims He Saved Khamenei, but now appears ready to launch a second round of war.

Trump’s Obsession With Iran Isn’t New

This isn’t the first time Trump has turned Iran into a personal grudge match. From the 2018 withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal to the 2020 drone strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani, Trump has always pushed the boundaries of U.S.–Iran relations. He didn’t just avoid war; he’s now presenting himself as the benevolent savior who could’ve pulled the trigger but didn’t.

Iran Responds: We Don’t Need Saving

Khamenei, in his first speech since the ceasefire, laughed off Trump’s claims. He said the American president “exaggerated events in unusual ways,” adding that “Washington had been dealt a humiliating slap.” He denied any real damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities and scoffed at the idea that Trump had saved anyone. Iran’s foreign minister also dismissed Trump’s statement that nuclear talks were about to resume, insisting no such thing was happening.

Trump Wants Peace—But Only on His Terms

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said he had hoped for a “comprehensive peace agreement,” but that dream seems dead. For Trump, diplomacy appears to hinge on personal respect. He wanted Iran to praise him for what he calls restraint. Instead, he got mocked. And so, in a post dripping with rage and ego, Trump Claims He Saved Khamenei—and promises Iran may not be so lucky next time.

Trump Claims He Saved Khamenei

There’s no sugarcoating this: Trump Claims He Saved Khamenei, but now threatens to drop bombs again. His public outburst shows just how personal his foreign policy still is. If Ayatollah Khamenei thought this chapter was closed, Trump just reopened it, with fire. The former president is not in office, but his words still carry weight. And with statements like these, diplomacy might just go out the window.
