Nigerian social media critic Verydarkman (VDM), has reacted to the reports on the detention of former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Bello was reportedly detained on November 11 at the EFCC offices in Jabi, Abuja, amid claims by his team that he voluntarily honoured an earlier invitation from the commission, accompanied by his lawyers. However, sources within the EFCC contradicted those claims, stating that the former governor was arrested by operatives.
Reacting to the news, VDM alleged, upon unverified information, that Yahaya Bello bribed the EFCC chairman with ₦10 billion to stage his arrest. He challenged the EFCC to post a mugshot or photo of the former governor holding a placard, as is customary. Until then, VDM said he might believe the unconfirmed report about the alleged bribe.
