The English West Ham Club have announced that the replacement of Graham Potter is none other than Nuno Espirito Santo after a poor start to the 2025/26 season had left them with no other option but to sack the manager.
Hammers decided to separate from Potter after they had let in 13 goals in their opening five league games and were at the bottom of the Premier League table. A disappointing League Cup exit at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers only added to the pressure, with the club’s board saying that “results and performances have not matched expectations.
Fifty-year-old Nuno takes over after he left Forest Nottingham earlier this season due to a disagreement with the owner Evangelos Marinakis. Although the parting was not a good one, he had accomplished a turnaround for Forest from 2023 relegation scare to seventh place, and consequently, Europa League qualification for the following year.
“My aim is to pour in the effort, get the best from the squad, and at the same time, make sure that we are as competitive as possible,” Nuno said.Previously, the Portuguese coach, who had managed Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur, will have his first match against Everton at Goodison Park this coming Monday.
The fixture will see him compete with ex-West Ham manager David Moyes, the coach who got the club its first major trophy in 43 years, the 2023 UEFA Conference League, winning run, albeit head-to-head, of course.
