The vet placed on open grazing of cattle on farmlands in various villages of Ibeku ancient Kingdom, Umuahia North LGA of Abia state has just been renewed by the indigenes.
The President General of Ibeku Egwu Asaa Development Association (IEADA) Jerry Onyemachi, had announced the ban’s renewal in Umuahia, explaining that the proscription on open grazing was still very effective.
As a result, he cautioned cattle owners, cattle rearers and their “allys” against openly allowing their cattle to graze people’s farms in Ibeku land.
The President General had also expressed worry on the activities of cattle on the farmlands of some Ibeku communities, particularly in Ajata Amuzu Ibeku, directing the owners of the cattle to remove them without delay or risk consequences.
The IEADA President General had concluded his announcement by saying that “disobedience to the anti-open grazing directive would not be tolerated in any part of Ibeku land.”
