Aryna Sabalenka has been named WTA Player of the Year for 2024, after a remarkable season saw the 26-year-old Belarusian win two Grand Slams and lock in the year-end world number one ranking. Sabalenka became back-to-back champion at the Australian Open in January, then won her third major title at the US Open in September. Her Cincinnati and Wuhan victories give her four titles in a standout year.
Other award winners included Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, named Doubles Team of the Year for their gold-medal run at the Paris Olympics, and American Emma Navarro, voted Most Improved Player after breaking into the top 10 from a year-end ranking of 38 in 2023.
New Zealand’s Lulu Sun was the Newcomer of the Year after reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals, with Paula Badosa collecting Comeback Player of the Year, finishing the year ranked No. 12.
