Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared her personal list of the greatest Afrobeats artistes of all time, revealing the three stars she believes stand above the rest.

During a recent interview on Hot 97, the “Rush” crooner identified Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema as her personal “Afrobeats Big 3.”

Her choice notably differs from the commonly mentioned trio in the genre, which often includes Davido and Burna Boy alongside Wizkid.

Speaking during the interview, Starr firmly stood by her selection.

“My Afrobeats Big 3 would be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema. My solid Big 3,” she said.

In the same conversation, the singer also opened up about her decision to relocate from Nigeria to New York City, explaining that her experiences in the city and the presence of friends influenced the move.

She recalled spending extended periods in the United States over the past two years.

“I spent the last two summers in New York and last summer I lived in Hell’s Kitchen for about three months with my friends. We were watching American shows and movies. It was fun,” she said.

The Mavin Records star added that living in the U.S. had long been one of her dreams while growing up.

“Also, growing up, I had always wanted to come to America. So which city would I want to go? LA is too far, the time difference with Nigeria is nine hours. So, I chose New York,” she explained in an interview with Angela Yee.
