Embattled chairman and chief executive of CNN who has only been at the network for about one-year is out the door.
Licht’s short stint has been marred with missteps and in-house rancor with reports that a couple of big names at the network complained about him.
Licht is leaving just after days of his devastating article in The Atlantic.
CNN in the past year under Licht has seen a couple of big names host leave the Network. Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo are two of the most prominent ones who have left.
Licht tendered an apology for the article in The Atlantic to staffers on Monday – claiming that he didn’t recognize when he read parts of the article and that he was sorry for distracting from the newsroom’s work.
“I met with Chris and he will be leaving CNN,” David Zaslav, the chief executive of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, told CNN employees during the network’s daily editorial call Wednesday.
