Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has responded fiercely to veteran entertainer Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, following the latter’s recent comments about his extravagant way of life.
The controversy began after a video of Melaye went viral, in which he declared, “There’s no one else like me. I’m limited edition.” Charly Boy reacted by suggesting that despite the former senator’s display of wealth, he might be facing internal struggles.
He wrote, “This shows that even in the midst of luxury/obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed. Not all forms of mental illness are discernible.”
In a video posted to his Facebook page on Thursday, Melaye hit back at Charly Boy, accusing him of clout-chasing and trying to revive his relevance by calling him out. He also mocked the singer’s personal situation.
“I heard he has a leaking roof but he has no money to fix it. He places a whole big bike in front of his house like a statue and he doesn’t see that as a show off,” Melaye said.
“He wanted to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside freezer,” he added.
Melaye, who was a member of the 8th National Assembly, is widely known for his opulent lifestyle and collection of luxury vehicles.
