Nigerian rapper and human rights advocate Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has voiced frustration over what he described as the increasing division among Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines.
The award-winning artiste shared his thoughts in response to a post by fellow entertainer Nasboi, who had urged Nigerians to unite and hold leaders accountable rather than allowing tribal or religious bias to influence their judgment.
In his message, Nasboi criticised the complacency of citizens toward corruption, citing past scandals such as the “snake swallowing money” incident.

He encouraged Nigerians to “put tribes and religions aside” and focus on rebuilding the country.
Reacting, Falz lamented how politicians continue to manipulate citizens through tribal and religious sentiments for selfish political gain.
“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he wrote.
His remarks come amid heated social media debates between Christian and Muslim youths, following comments by U.S. President Donald Trump threatening to take military action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians by Islamic extremists.
Known for his activism and politically conscious lyrics, Falz emphasised that only unity and independent thinking can prevent Nigerians from being divided and exploited by corrupt political elites.
