Rapper Fatman Scoop, known for his high energy and big voice, has died at 53. He collapsed during a show in Hamden, Connecticut on Friday and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III was one of the biggest names in New York City hip hop in the 90s. He also worked on Missy Elliott’s Grammy winning “Lose Control” and Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That.” His 2003 hit “Be Faithful” went top 10 in most of the world including the UK and Ireland.
Other than music, Fatman Scoop also appeared on TV shows such as Chancers in the UK in 2004 and Celebrity Big brother 16 in the UK vs USA in 2015.
His family called him “a shining star, a light on the stage and in life” and his tour manager DJ Pure Cold said “he will be deeply missed”. Fatman Scoop was set to perform at the Reminisce Festival in the UK on September 7th where the organizers have said “it’s devastating”. His memory and impact on his fans worldwide will never be forgotten.
