Hamas announced on Sunday that it had handed over a hostage from Gaza, who held Russian citizenship, to the International Red Cross.
The action was taken as a gesture of appreciation for Moscow’s position. The connection between this release and the truce deal between Israel and Hamas, initiated on Friday, remains unclear.

As per the terms of the four-day truce, Hamas was set to release 50 Israelis, including women and children, who were taken hostage on Oct. 7. In return, Israel would release 150 Palestinian prisoners from its jails, encompassing women and teenagers.
