The Federal Highway linking Kano to Maiduguri has been extremely damaged by heavy downpour. The affected areas are between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The heavy rain had divided the road into two parts, forcing motorists and other road users to seek different paths to their destinations.
The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed had while visiting the site of the damage had emphasized the road’s significance as a major link between Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions.
What They’re Saying
While speaking to newsmen, the governor had called on the Federal Government to immediately look into the state of the dilapidated road.
“This is a major highway, the Northeast highway, and the dual carriageways have been completely washed away.
“We are calling on the Federal Government to assist. We will report this issue to Abuja through the Controller of Works,” he said.
He then concluded the statement by saying that a remedial action or permanent measure would be implemented as soon as possible, like was done during the last rainy season.
