Nigerian music legend 2Baba has responded to his mother’s viral claim that he was kidnapped, playfully saying he’s now raising funds for his own release.
The drama began after some of his family members, including his mother, Rose Idibia, expressed worry about his whereabouts—particularly in the midst of his ongoing divorce from actress Annie Idibia.
In a viral video, Rose Idibia expressed fears that 2Baba had gone missing and suggested he could be held captive by his new partner, Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State lawmaker.
She appealed to Natasha to “release her son,” implying that he might be under some form of influence or manipulation.
While performing on Sunday, 2Baba addressed the situation with humour, saying, “Allegedly, I’ve been missing. Allegedly, I’ve been kidnapped. So, as we come to the Acapella show, this show is to generate money for the kidnappers to release me.”
His remarks, laced with humour, seemed to play down the gravity of the allegations making the rounds online.
