Kim officially filed for divorce as way back as February and Hollywood was gearing up for another famous couple split up but 8 months after, the power couple are still not officially done. In fact, contrary to expectations, both have been showing up to support each other in their respective engagements. How can they be right in the middle of a divorce and still be keeping tabs on each other? This is one question rapper Ye formerly known as Kanye West asked in a recent interview he granted to Revolt TV Drink Champs, which was released on Thursday.
During the interview, the 44 year old stated categorically that celebrity star and business mogul, Kim Kardashian, is in fact still his wife. The interview which covered other areas like his new album Donda, and his career immediately got fans and the internet buzzing with that startling revelation.
Fans of the couple would prefer them to remain as couple because of the immense success they both have achieved together either in business, with Ye in just a few years creating a brand that is challenging Nike’s Air Jordan for sneaker world supremacy. This according to Forbes makes him officially a billionaire in USD. The same magazine on April 6, 2021 declared that Kim was worth an estimated $1.6 billion USD up from $780m in October 2020 thanks to two lucrative businesses- KKW Beauty and Skims as well as cash from reality television endorsement deals.
The highlight of the interview was his “ain’t no paperwork to prove otherwise” statement referring to whether she is still his wife or not. This assertion is technically legal because the separation proceeding isn’t final just yet.
Kim on her part has consistently showed up in his album listening parties. Although it is unclear if they have the same movement logistics, to reciprocate the very kind gestures from his estrange wife, Ye was also with Kim in New York when she did her first hosting gig at the Saturday Night Live Show.
This united front they both have been exhibiting is raising serious hopes among fans that there just might be a possibility of the duo forgetting about going ahead with the divorce to find amicable ways to resolve their differences.
However, on the down side, recent news about their separation revealed that Kim is going ahead with some major steps towards making it officially with the acquisition of the Hidden Hills Estate she shared with Ye for an estimated $23m as part of the divorce terms and conditions.
Also, she seems to be putting the relationship behind her quickly as dating rumours also surfaced concerning her with American comedian, Pete Davidson. The pair recently were seen together on their second dinner date; Kim clearly needs some humor and good laugh in her life.
Whatever the final outcome of the proceedings might be, they surely will go down as one of the most powerful couples in the celebrity space with a combined asset base that rivals that of any ever seen in the world of entertainment. They came, they created an irresistible persona as a couple, produced lovely children and made some good money while it. There is no doubt in their ability to continue to win together as a couple but if this is the end, we might have just seen the best of them together.
