King Charles III and his Queen, Camilla are scheduled to visit Australia and Samoa in October 2024, as the King gradually takes on more public duties while treating his cancer diagnosis.

The monarchs will conduct engagements in the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales, before travelling to Samoa for a Commonwealth summit.

King Charles will be making this arduous journey despite his diagnosis for an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this year.

However, the Buckingham Palace have confirmed that the couple will not visit New Zealand, as the King’s doctors have advised against a drawn out visit on health grounds.

This will be the King’s first visit to Australia as Monarch and his first official overseas tour since his was diagnosed of cancer.

In Australia, the couple’s program will include visits to the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales.

In Samoa, however, they will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Further details of the visit to the two countries will gradually be in the coming days, but the couple’s itinerary will be subject to change according to his doctor’s advice.

What They’re Saying

The Palace had released a statement saying,
“In close consultation with the Australian and New Zealand prime ministers, and with due regard for the pressures of time and logistics, it has therefore been agreed to limit the visit to Samoa and Australia only.”
