The Lagos chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) is praising Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf for his role in reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
In a statement, NNPP Lagos spokesperson Richard Benson described the move as a way to preserve Kano’s cultural heritage.
He also applauded the party’s leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the Kano State House of Assembly for their parts in securing Sanusi’s return.
Benson believes this is a positive sign for Kano’s governance under Yusuf and Kwankwaso’s leadership.
He sees it as evidence of their commitment to tradition and restoring the city’s former glory.
Benson criticized unnamed politicians who play politics with cultural heritage for personal gain.
He expressed the Lagos NNPP chapter’s hope for continued progress in Kano, the party’s only current stronghold.
Benson also urged all NNPP figures in Kano, including Yusuf, Kwankwaso, and the House of Assembly, to work together to make Kano a model for other Nigerian states.
What they’re saying
“The Governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, our National Leader, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the entire Kano House of Assembly have all worked hard to ensure that the people’s cultural legacy is preserved based on the truth, and for that we are grateful. This is the Lagos State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party”.
“The majority of the people are happy to see that their tradition and core values are intact, and this is what was just exhibited in Kano to prove that the cultural heritage of the ancient city of Kano is preserved,” the speaker stated.
He went on to say, “We are happy with the efforts to restore and preserve the people’s values, traditions, and heritage, as well as the commitment to put everything back in place and restore the ancient city of Kano’s lost glory.”
