Manchester United has taken an injury blow to their early season campaigns, with forward Rasmus Hojlund and newly signed defender Leny Yoro facing long spells out of the pitch. Hojlund, 21, is ruled out for six weeks because of a hamstring injury, while 18-year-old Yoro might be out for as long as three months following an injury to his foot. Both players were forced off early in last weekend’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal.
Adding to the injury worries, Marcus Rashford limped off in United’s 3-2 win over Real Betis in San Diego, California on Wednesday. United boss Erik ten Hag remained cautious over Rashford’s availability, saying: “We have to wait. Of course we don’t want to risk going into the season next week already and into an important game.”
These injuries come ahead of United’s game against league champions Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10th. The FA Cup winners line up against Fulham at home in their first Premier League game of the season on August 16th. The end of United’s pre-season tour comes this Saturday with a match against Liverpool in South Carolina, and both fans and management will be praying that their star players recover in time for the game.
