The eagerly awaited trailer for the film “The King of Queens” was presented by Sony Pictures. This beautiful and legendary piece is based on actual historical events that took place in the West African kingdom of Dahomey, currently known as the Republic of Benin.
The Dahomey Empire existed between 1600 and 1904 before being colonized by French colonizers like most African countries. The popularity that the kingdom gained in the 17th and 19th centuries is due to the role played by these trained warrior women.
The film Woman King is a historical play revolving around General Nanisca, played by Viola Davis, and Nawi, a very passionate and strong recruit. They fought for their honor to free their people from slavery and they fought for their existence. It also features some Nollywood actors like John Boyega who played King Ghaza and Jimmy Odukoya
