Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has added his voice to the growing criticism over the country’s failure to safeguard its youths, cautioning that Nigeria is jeopardizing its own future.
In a brief tweet shared on Saturday, the award-winning singer stressed that no nation can aspire to greatness while neglecting the well-being and security of its younger generation, who are expected to shape tomorrow.

Rema’s statement comes at a tense period for the country, following a troubling resurgence of student abductions across multiple states. The most recent incident occurred on Friday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State, where more than 200 students were kidnapped by armed men.
The attack has caused widespread fear among parents and communities, reopening painful memories of past school abductions and reigniting concerns about the government’s ability to keep educational institutions safe.
It was in this climate of national distress that Rema’s message resonated strongly. “Until they protect the youths and allow them to grow into their full potential, Nigeria will never be truly great,” he wrote.
