Skyewise Group has dismissed widespread claims that the property recently demolished along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos belongs to popular auto influencer, Ola of Lagos.
According to the company, the demolished site is entirely owned by Skyewise Group and not by the influencer, as suggested on social media after videos of the demolition went viral last Saturday.
The clips, which showed heavy machinery pulling down luxury car display lots on the Lekki-Epe corridor—a prime hub for automobile businesses—sparked outrage among Nigerians online.
In a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Monday, the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Elvis Abuyere, described the incident as “deeply unfortunate and saddening.”
Abuyere explained that the demolition was part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing exercise to open up access roads for a new waterway development project.
“This unfortunate incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located,” he said.
The CEO expressed his disappointment but noted that the company had already begun plans to rebuild and establish a new, improved facility in Lagos.
He clarified that the property in question was fully owned by Skyewise Group, adding that only a small section had been leased to Ola of Lagos for car hire operations and luxury vehicle showcases.
“All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licenses, and environmental levies for the property were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government,” Abuyere stated.
He further revealed that the company would soon provide copies of its ownership documents to affirm its legal claim to the demolished site.
Abuyere thanked Nigerians for their support and assured that Skyewise Group would “bounce back stronger and better in the near future.”
