The Federal Government announced on Friday that it has successfully evacuated all Nigerians who were trapped in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
Dr. Sani Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, made the remarks while receiving the second batch of 130 evacuees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the evacuees arrived at the airport’s Pilgrims Terminal at 3:10 p.m. local time on board TARCO aircraft B373-300 from Port Sudan.
He stated that the second set of evacuees had been evacuated from Port Sudan.
According to Gwarzo, two of the 130 evacuees are men, while the rest are women and children.
He promised the public that the team will continue to prioritize women, children, and the sick.
He did, however, explain that the N100,000 stipend handed to refugees was a life-saving support to persons fleeing a dangerous situation.
