The Nigerian film industry has been plunged into mourning following the passing of Shina, the only son of veteran actress Peju Ogunmola and her husband, popular comic actor Sunday Omobolanle, better known as Papi Luwe.
Reports indicate that the sad event happened while the 56-year-old actress was on a movie location.
Shina, who had just completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, was regarded as the apple of his mother’s eye. She was said to have often celebrated his progress and recent achievements.
The news of his death was first made public by actor Odunlade Adekola, whose social media announcement sparked a wave of tributes and condolences from Nollywood colleagues, fans, and sympathisers.
Since then, Ogunmola’s social media platforms have been inundated with messages of comfort, as fellow actors and admirers share in the family’s grief.
The loss has left the Omobolanle household and the wider Nollywood community deeply shaken.
