Seun Kuti, son of the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to a barrage of insults directed at him by Grammy Award-winning singer Wizkid, following a public disagreement over comparisons between the two musicians.
The clash began after Seun openly criticised Wizkid’s fans for drawing parallels between the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner and Fela, insisting that such comparisons were disrespectful and diminished the historical impact of his father’s work and activism.

The situation escalated on Tuesday night when Wizkid took to his Instagram Stories with a string of strongly worded posts aimed at Seun. In one of the messages, the singer boldly placed himself above the Afrobeat legend, writing:
“@bigbirdkuti I’m Big Wiz everyday bigger than your papa!! Wetin u one do fool? Hungry bastard.”
Wizkid later continued the attack on X (formerly Twitter), contrasting Seun’s activism with Fela’s lifelong struggle against oppression. He wrote:
“Fela fight for freedom this fool dey fight for fc! Oloshi omo ale!”
In response, Seun Kuti adopted a calm but sarcastic tone. Sharing a screenshot of Wizkid’s post on his Instagram page, he captioned it:
“Just be yourself short man. You are also great.”
The back-and-forth has since ignited intense conversations online, with fans and observers debating issues of legacy, respect, and generational influence within Nigeria’s music scene.
