Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has reportedly avoided police arrest following an alleged assault on his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple.
The incident allegedly took place on Thursday, January 1, 2026, during Ashabi’s visit to Portable’s bar in Ogun State.
A video circulating online shows Ashabi holding the singer’s clothes and insisting that he recognise her as his wife, rather than just a baby mama.

“Oya Pami baby, I’m also your wife, you’ve got to stop calling me your baby mama,” she said in the video.
Portable responded by pushing her and stating that he only acknowledges his wife, Bewaji, while the other women who share children with him remain baby mamas.
“I only have one wife; the rest of you are just baby mamas,” he said.
The confrontation escalated, with Ashabi emotionally replying, “Then you will have to kill me, baby.”
Following the altercation, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly reported Portable to the police for assault and abuse. In a separate video shared on Instagram, she alleged that law enforcement visited Bewaji at home while Portable evaded arrest.
“I celebrated the new year in a happy mood with my family. You are the one that called me that you’re in a bad mood, and I told you that I went to my dad’s house for the new year. And you asked me to bring new year food for you and I said ok.
“I called you when I got to your bar, and you asked me to meet you outside. When I got there, we had a minor disagreement and you slapped me, beat me up, seized our phones and threatened my siblings and I with axe,” she alleged.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising Ashabi for allegedly forcing herself on the singer, while others suggested her behaviour reflects low self-esteem.
