As court documents reveal, Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, accepted millions of dollars from Romanian entrepreneur Gabriel Popoviciu in exchange for lobbying services and influence on US policy during his father’s vice presidency.
The US Department of Justice’s investigation, led by Special Counsel David Weiss, uncovered significant payments from foreign entities and individuals to Hunter Biden for his services as a lobbyist, consultant, and legal advisor.
According to the court filing, Hunter Biden worked for Popoviciu to help him evade bribery charges in Romania. Evidence shows how Hunter Biden received large sum of amount from a foreign principal to influence US policy and public opinion.
This revelation comes as Hunter Biden faces trial on September 9 for tax evasion charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He faces indictment for failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019.
The case raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest and influence peddling during Vice President Biden’s tenure.
Representatives for Hunter Biden, prosecutors, and the White House declined to comment.
