President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to his cabinet, dismissing five ministers and reassigning ten others to new portfolios.
The ministers who are no longer in their positions are Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).
President Tinubu has also chosen seven new ministers, who need approval from the Senate. Other important appointments include Shehu Dikko as the head of the National Sports Commission and Sunday Akin Dare as a special advisor to the President on public communication and orientation, working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
These changes come after growing calls for President Tinubu to change his cabinet. The goal is to bring new ideas and energy into the government.
According to the Presidency, these changes are happening right away. The Senate is expected to approve the new appointments soon.
