Irate Rivers State citizens had on Friday stormed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, (RSIEC) office, making demands for the October 5 local government elections to hold in the state
These aggrieved protesters had, according to reports, defied the heavy rainfall in the state, singing and drumming loudly, and blocking one side of the road.
The angry masses had trooped out after Governor Siminalayi Fubara stormed the RSIEC at 1 am (WAT) on Friday, to stop the Rivers State Police Command from taking over the premises.
At the time of filing this report, Sim Fubara, the Governor Rivers State has already described himself as the “greatest loser” in Saturday’s local government election in the state.
The governor further explained this statement, saying that he would lose out because his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), would not be participating in Saturday’s local government election in the state.
Fubara had disclosed all this while addressing Rivers Political Stakeholders at Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
