Premier Su Tseng-chang has just announced that the Taiwanese government will be giving out cash payouts of nearly $200 to every citizen this year.
He also said that the island’s economic growth will be shared by everyone in the country.
Meanwhile, Reuters has reported that the export-reliant economy, which was also a global tech powerhouse for products had grown 6.45 % in 2021, the fastest rate since it had expanded in 2010.
The government also has made plans to plow an extra T$380 billion ($12.4bn) in tax revenue from 2021 back into the economy to help shield the island from global economic shocks.
Speaking on the boon it intended to hand out to its citizens, Su had said: “We wish to give all citizens a New Year blessing after the beginning of the Lunar New Year,”
The Taiwanese week-long holiday will begin on January 20, 2023.
